Importance of sports in student life
The main task of students is to study. Studying should be done like penance. However, along with studies, there is a special need for physical exercise and sports. Because incompetent and weak body can never study well. In this context, Swamiji said to the youth, "If you play football instead of reading Gita, you will be closer to heaven." Everyone admits that playing football i.e. regular sports keeps the mind and body fresh and healthy.
Sports and physical exercise :-
Sports refreshes our mind and keeps our body healthy. Only sports can give endless joy in student life. I want a green field for sports. And the lack of this green field is very strong at present. Despite the shortage, it is absolutely necessary to make students exercise through various yoga postures in schools or any educational institution. Only those with a healthy body can do beautiful things and be more interested in studies. Running or doing various sports at certain times every day does not make anyone tired with little effort. Besides, no mischievous thoughts or thoughts can take root in the mind.
Types of Sports :-
Sports are basically of two types. One is indoor game and one is outdoor game. Games played at home like ludo, chess, cards etc. are called indoor games. And those which are played outside the house like football, volleyball, kabaddi, cricket etc. are called outdoor games.
Sports and Character Development :-
Sports not only bring endless joy to the life of students but also develop character. A sense of discipline arises from sports, which is essential for character building. Team leadership, team spirit, empathy and solidarity are born from sports. All these human values are essential for a true citizen. Besides, loss and victory are inevitable in sports, sometimes one side wins and the other side loses. Learning to accept this concept of success and failure easily comes from sports. This education can easily accept success or failure in later life.
Modern life and sports :-
In modern life, joint families or extended families are breaking up and becoming small nuclear families. As a result, children are suffering from loneliness. Then there is the pressure of studying, the pressure of getting the highest marks in exams. The lives of the students are at stake in these tensions. A lot of kids get sick due to stress. Sports can get rid of all these problems. Sports can remove all the fatigue of the mind. So our elders should pay special attention to this so that our new generation can breathe a little in the open wilderness and fly like a free bird.
Sports and national-internationalism :-
Currently sports not only entertains the mind or builds the body, but also helps to be known in the wider world. Nationalism is developed through sports. One state has various competitive sports with other states. From there the sense of nationality of the students was born. Sports such as cricket, chess, badminton etc. are not limited to the country today, Indians are playing cricket with many countries of the world. Playing Badminton is introducing India to the world. In this way the sense of internationalism is also being awakened.
Conclusion :-
We all agree that regular sports and exercise are necessary for a healthy body. Through sports, the body is shaped and morality, compassion, empathy and brotherhood are born. A real person is made through the development of these qualities. Therefore, the importance of sports is increasing day by day in modern society. Along with the provision of sports in various educational institutions, the government should also pay more attention to this issue.
